Empathy

To be in someone else’s shoes, to be in their state of being, is what this Eye calls for. We see, but we do not feel the struggles, the pain, or the loss that others endure, and we have been desensitized to this through our relationship with media. The mission of Tao is to cultivate a sense of empathy through fashion, to bring attention to the many problems we all face in silence throughout the world. In turn, with each artwork and each piece of clothing comes a sense of giving back to the message it seeks to promote. The purpose of this Eye is to actively help those suffering by having a percentage of the proceeds from each shirt go toward the themes it seeks to address. All of this is to spark conversation, to fully engage in empathy with the world we all share, and to foster a sense of community in a world so deeply detached by technology.
