The longing we feel when we are confronted with the loss of someone important in our lives is not unfamiliar. We have all been here, in one way or another. As social beings, we are naturally inclined to orbit one another, held in quiet tension, and when that orbit is broken, we feel its absence deeply. It is also human to forget, even when we believe we never could. Under pressure, we lose sight of the other orbits in our lives, and sometimes we lose them one by one. But these connections do not simply vanish. They remain with us, woven into our memory, our habits, our ways of being. You should know that these orbits never truly leave you. Even in death, they continue through you and in your actions, that is part of what it means to be human. Even if they are no longer beside you, you carry them forward in how you live. So live toward what is to come. Do not hide in the shadows of grief or linger only in lament. They live on in your life, just as you will live on in theirs.

What is the Global Significance of this Piece?

The conflict in Iran, Ukraine, Palestine, like so many others unfolding across the world this year, does not begin with a single strike or decision, it is the result of years of proxy battles, restraint of the people, and unrelenting tension finally giving way. But beneath that slow build up, the question in everyone’s mind is louder than ever: all of these lives, lost for what? What is it that we are trying to prove to one another, when the very people meant to bear witness may no longer be there to answer? There are stories here that will never be told, children who will never have the chance to discover who they were meant to become, lives interrupted before they could even take shape. And in the wake of these attempts to make a statement, it is the rest of society that collapses into silence, their voices buried beneath the weight of it all, smothered under concrete and consequence, unheard but not unmade.

We understand this weight because it is not new to us, we have carried it before, in different forms, under different names. War does not just destroy, it accelerates this breaking, pulling people apart so quickly that entire communities are left disoriented, struggling to remember what once held them together. But even in that devastation, something refuses to disappear. Those lives do not simply vanish, they press themselves into memory, into habit, into every choice made by those who remain. This is what endures when everything else is stripped away. The quiet, persistent continuation of those bonds, reshaped but never truly broken. And so, even as war redraws borders and shifts power, it demands something more from us, it forces us to decide whether we will be consumed by grief, or whether we will carry those lost forward, living in a way that refuses to let them be erased.

Amnesty International

This first project of mine is just the start of something more than just a clothing brand. Its a brand that seeks to help with aiding these causes. Amid all of this, organizations like Amnesty International stand at the edge of these conflicts, hand in hand with all victims, documenting what the world tries to look away from. The schools reduced to rubble, the civilians buried beneath it, the children whose lives risk becoming numbers unless someone insists they were more.

Across war zones, they work to expose injustice, demand accountability, and remind us that civilians are not collateral, but the very center of what must be protected. This is where these shirts begin to matter. They are not just fabric, but a response to that silence, a way of refusing to let those broken orbits disappear. By supporting Amnesty International with 25% of the proceeds of these shirts, we will help carry forward the stories that would otherwise be lost, contributing to the work being done on the frontlines of truth and advocacy, turning remembrance into action, and ensuring that even in the face of overwhelming loss, those lives continue to shape what we choose to stand for.
